Repinique on an old tin can…

Today was interesting. And it wasn’t.

Double PLP was boring as. Once again my teacher got upset at me for not handing in my work experience form and my resumé. How am I meant to hand in my work experience form when my work experience isn’t fully organised yet… (oops)

But dance was good. Did about three or four practices of Extinct, which gave me a good workout. Then in lesson 7 I had music, a.k.a Batucada rehearsal. Phil played the Repinique on a tin can today instead of the actual drum, and after rehearsal told me he is going to leave it in the store room so that I can practise the Repinique part during the week. :) That made me happy. lol :)

I love playing the Middle Surdo. Just not for about seven minutes at a time without a mallet. Kind of killed my left hand for about ten minutes after school, but it’s all good. It was a lot of fun.

Axé people!

Colette.

Sunshine and Logo’s

The sun has come out! Yay! Hopefully this will mean that the ground will be dry for Capoeira.

Axé

P.s. Either number 4 or 5 is fine with me. They are both awesome! :)

Samba whistles and the C major scale

Is it possible? Could I range the pitch enough to complete one octave of the C major scale? I’d love to find out. Because that would be pretty awesome.

Well, I had a rehearsal for school Batucada today, and Phil brought in his Repinique so that the group could hear what it sounds like. Then he asked me my name and then he told the group about my participation in Capoeira and the Batucada workshop that He did with us Soul Capoeiristas. Then he told the group that I had played the Repinique before and that I would be leading them in some future performances. That was a little bit embarrassing, because everyone kind of stared at me after that. So I ended up playing the Middle Surdo with a serious face, for fear that I would start to laugh. Afterwards, I carried two of the drums back to the store room and put them away in their places like I always do.

But I’m really excited, that I’m performing twice in week five, once at the international assembly and once at the Norwood town hall 30th May.

Axé Capoeiristas!

Colette.

Batucada & Capoeira

Just had the last Batucada session on Saturday. And I am heaps excited for the upcoming performances! One at school for the international assembly and one with Soul Batucada. :) However, I am apparently leading the school Batucada at future performances. Scary, ‘cos that means one thing: whole school assembly. However, I was asked to do it, and seeing as I have done it before and no one else in school Batucada has: I guess I’m probably the best candidate. Plus, there is only a few things I need to see again. Everything else I remember.

Capoeira is awesome as well! While I would love to do more than one class per week, the Saturday Capoeira sessions in the park are really good as well. It’s a chance for me to work on things I learn in class.

Axé everyone!

Colette :)

Roda, see you on tuesday!

Going into the Roda can be scary. I myself often don’t play in the Roda because I get overtaken by nerves. Or, I think ‘okay, I’ll cut in here’ but then it just doesn’t feel like a good time to go in and I end up missing out.

It’s okay to be a bit nervous before going in, most Capoeirista’s feel a bit nervous beforehand. But if you don’t play in the Roda, then you will miss out on an opportunity to learn things from the other people playing. So…

I’ll be in the Roda on Tuesday!

Behind on my personal page count!!! Oops…

Well, 1st of April went really well for me. I wrote seven pages.

But today isn’t going as well. I have only written THREE pages!!! You see, I want to write more pages than the normal day quota, because there are some days that I can only get a page in, and even occasionally have NO TIME FOR WRITING AT ALL! *gasp*

So hopefully I will be able to write four pages before midnight. Because I need those page numbers. And I need them now!

I’m gonna go now and type the rest of Nicole’s voice over dialogue (Nicole is one of my MC’s). I’m really loving the voice overs at the moment, cause then I can tell people what they are thinking. Good times! Right now she is going on about how she loves rain. Yay! Rain! I love rain too. But then, seeing as Nicole is based on the author (yes, that would be me :) ), then why wouldn’t she love rain?

Anyway. Bye folks!

Axé!

See you at the starting blocks!

AXÉ!

40 something degrees Celsius and I’m melting

This week was my first week back at school. And all week it has been 40 something degrees celcius. And because our school is “air conditioned”, we don’t have an early dismissal procedure (I say “air conditioned”, because while our school does officially have air conditioning, most of them don’t work leaving only a few classrooms in the school with working ones. And on Friday, there was a power cut for about an hour. So none of the air conditioners would work and all the lights went out. That was extremely annoying. Even more so, by the fact that some people managed to get their parents to sign them out so that they could go home. Lucky people. Eventually though, the power came back on and we carried on with our overly warm school day.

It was a bit of a shock actually, because I had just come back from my holiday in Britain, where it was about a max of about 2 or 3 degrees most days, which was nice. Then I came of off of the plane and it was more like 30 something. So naturally I felt a bit overheated. And as I said above, when I went back to school it got even worse.

Did you know that there was a day in summer, back in 1936 that was around about 45-46 something degrees Celsius. And one of the days this week beat that day’s temperature. That’s how hot it has been.

It’s still really hot now, so I’m gonna get a glass of water

Ciao.

Well, now that I’m done…

Well, now that I am done…now what? I want to write more, but I don’t know what to save for next year, and what to write now.

I could either save the sequel to my NaNoWriMo novel for next november, Or I could save the clown statues for next november. What do other peoples think?
