40 something degrees Celsius and I’m melting

January 31, 2009 Blue Lily

This week was my first week back at school. And all week it has been 40 something degrees celcius. And because our school is “air conditioned”, we don’t have an early dismissal procedure (I say “air conditioned”, because while our school does officially have air conditioning, most of them don’t work leaving only a few classrooms in the school with working ones. And on Friday, there was a power cut for about an hour. So none of the air conditioners would work and all the lights went out. That was extremely annoying. Even more so, by the fact that some people managed to get their parents to sign them out so that they could go home. Lucky people. Eventually though, the power came back on and we carried on with our overly warm school day.

It was a bit of a shock actually, because I had just come back from my holiday in Britain, where it was about a max of about 2 or 3 degrees most days, which was nice. Then I came of off of the plane and it was more like 30 something. So naturally I felt a bit overheated. And as I said above, when I went back to school it got even worse.

Did you know that there was a day in summer, back in 1936 that was around about 45-46 something degrees Celsius. And one of the days this week beat that day’s temperature. That’s how hot it has been.

It’s still really hot now, so I’m gonna get a glass of water

Ciao.
